Great Lakes Baseball Academy now offers top-notch Women's Softball Instruction. Our instructors focus on the fundamentals of hitting and pitching, servicing many ages and skill levels. GLBA also offers the opportunity to rent the facility to softball teams for practice using our Jugs softball machine and equipment.
Wes Strickland
Softball Pitching
Coach Strickland has over 10 years experience coaching fast pitch. He is the founder of the Michigan Classics fast pitch softball club. He is starting his 5th year of high school coaching and third year of teaching the "Pat Brower" style of pitching call "the drag". Coach Strickland has over 30 years experience as an adult player winning including 6 state titles and one world championship.
Samantha Cain
Softball Pitching Instructor
Coach Cain played for Finesse travel team for five years in which she helped her team to two elite eight finishes as well as one third place finish in nationals. A 2008 graduate of Kennedy High School, she set the record for most strikeouts in a year with 230, compiled a 55-22 record her first three years, had 15 homeruns and 62 runs heading into senior year. She served as softball team captain for two years. Coach Cain is currently a pitcher for the Wayne State University softball team. Last year the team won the GLIAC league, as well as regionals and super regionals to advance to the World Series where they finished in the final eight at the NCAA Division II World Series. Coach Cain is also a member of the Midland Lady Explorers 23u team who won the 2010 World Series in Peoria, Illinois.
Jessica Dillon
Softball Hitting Instructor – Specializing in Slap and Drag Hitting
Coach Dillon played in college at Chattanooga State. In high school she maintained highest batting average on the team for 3 years and was also the golden glove award winner 3 straight years. Coach Dillion specializes slap/drag hitting. She studied under one of the top slap hitters in softball, Sarah Fekkate who played for the University of Tennessee. She has traveled all over the world playing for various summer travel teams and played in many college exposure tournaments. Coach Dillon is very outgoing and easy to get to know and she is very excited to get the opportunity to better your child!
Ed Pitock
Softball Hitting Instructor
Coach Pitock is the current hitting coach for Ypsilanti Lincoln Softball program. With 2 years on the varsity staff and 10 years coaching girl's fast pitch club teams, he brings a unique experience tailored for the girls game. Coach Pitock believes in solid fundamentals and a lot of hard work is the key to a great softball swing.
Ray Barnes
Softball Hitting Instructor
Coach Barnes has over 20 years of coaching youth sports, which includes coaching elite travel fast pitch softball for over 15 years from ages 7 to 18+. He is the founder of Thunderbirds Softball, which has placed many players into all divisions of college softball. His personal instruction methods include incorporating linear, rotational, Candrea and Epstein philosophies. He believes a positive approach to aggressive hitting with the "Mental Game" in mind. Currently, he also is a hitting consultant to Gabriel Richard H.S.
